Investigation and research on plant diversity in Wulongjiang Park

          Abstract:
Objective This study aims to clarify the plant resource characteristics of Wulongjiang Park, evaluate its landscape composition, and propose scientific optimization strategies to address existing issues.
Method Field surveys and line-transect methods were adopted to record information on plant species names, quantities, life forms, etc. Statistical analyses were conducted on the composition of families, genera, and species, along with an assessment of their diverse ornamental characteristics.
Result The results show that Wulongjiang Park hosts 226 landscape plant species, belonging to 166 genera and 73 families. Angiosperms dominate, comprising 69 families, 161 genera, and 220 species, while gymnosperms include 3 families, 4 genera, and 5 species, and ferns consist of 1 family, 1 genus, and 1 species. Life-form analysis indicates that trees are predominant. The family and genus distribution patterns are relatively scattered, with single-species families and genera being most common, reflecting high diversity. In terms of plant origin, introduced species prevail. Regarding ornamental value, landscape plants are ranked in the following order: multi-purpose ornamental plant>foliage plants > flowering plants > form plants > fruit plants. In terms of invasive status, a total of 7 alien invasive plant species were identified, belonging to 4 families, with Verbenaceae accounting for 3 species (42.86%). From the perspective of geographical origin, there are 3 types. Among them, species from tropical America are the most abundant, with 6 species, accounting for 85.71%. According to the hazard classification, there are 2 species classified as Level Ⅰ, 2 as Level Ⅱ, 1 as Level Ⅲ, and 2 as Level Ⅴ.
Conclusion Wulongjiang Park exhibits rich plant diversity and high ornamental value. The findings of this study can provide scientific references and baseline data for the planning, construction, and ecological management of similar wetland parks.
